The only thing I have found for ordinary users is that some companies use os9 self extracting archives for OS X apps, drivers and ppd's.

I bought a second hand MDD 2x1GHz with OS X installed, but when I tried to install 9.2.2 the installer wouldn't launch as there was no Classic installed. Chicken & egg...
