Lost Addresses

I just upgraded from 10.1.5 to 10.2.3. I checked the boxes that told it 
to upgrade from an older version (not new install), and to save the old 
system (just in case). When the upgrade was done running,  my Mail and 
Address Book were replaced with a clean new one--none of my old 
mailboxes, emails, or addresses were there. Same with stickies and 
keychain. I finally got my old Mail into the new Mail, but I can't get 
the addresses. When I tell it to import I navigate to my old addresses 
and it says it is importing but nothing shows up in the new address 
book. Anything I can do here?
