Hello Wise Ones,

Just a quick question. I'm trying to upgrade a media drive in my daughters
Beige G3. The drive loads and is visible in APS, shows fully supported. The
drive is an LG 4520 Combo Drive. The drive came out of my G4 DA, when I
installed a new Pioneer 106 Dual Format.

I have visited xlr8yourmac.com, and downloaded the Apple DVD 2.7 player, the
"hacked" update, and the drive. The Player installer was unpacked using Tome
Viewer, and the software installed. The drive will read CD's and write
CD-RW, will read the DVD, but the player will not open. Error message is
"You may need to change your monitor resolution to use this software". Have
tried every resolution and still no dice. Have also tried all earlier
versions of Apple DVD player.

I know there are issues with the Beige Onboard Video card. It does have a
DVD decoder chip, but the onboard video card is only 6 Mb. System software
is currently 9.2.2, but will be upgrading to OS 10.2.8 as soon as the new
drive is installed.

Do I have to upgrade the Video card to a ATI 128 ?

Anyone successfully installed a DVD reader on a Beige?

Will OS X help?

Any ideas? I would appreciate any help you can offer.
