I would phrase it in somewhat harsher terms: F**K NORTON
UTILITIES!! GOUGE OUT ITS EYEBALLS AND SKULLF**K NORTON
UTILITIES!!

Ahem... Please pardon the outburst.

EPILOGUE: Upon receiving an additional 120GB of storage
this morning, I was able to launch a full-scale recovery on
the brain-dead drive, utilizing both DiskWarrior's
"Scavenge" option and Data Rescue X running in "Thorough
Scan" mode. Two hours later I had retrieved 90% of the
files INTACT and functional, including all of the files
with which I support my extravagant lifestyle.

In case anyone was wondering, the files involved were
MASTER LISTS of all real estate currently handled by a
certain GIGANTIC brokerage in North & South Carolina. The
destruction of these lists could have spelled much worse
disaster than the mere loss of my job. Chaos would reign,
virtue would be driven from the land, purple monkeys would
fly out of many asses. The failed hard-drive was,
originally, a backup volume...but, of course, over time it
had devolved into a storage Vault of current materials with
no additional backup. My bad.

Anyway, my profound thanks go out to everyone who assisted
in this recovery effort---and major hats off to Data Rescue
X and Disk Warrior, without which, well, I shudder to
think.
