1. The pane system of print settings was indeed a pain. Too many pages.
? Print settings? where? In page setup? or in the Print Dialog? The print dialog is darn near a duplicate of OS 9's.
2. Print settings didn't stick to documents. Every time I needed to reprint
doc, I had to reset the settings. I never got to the bottom of this.
Hmmm,. I'll confess that I've never noticed this, but I almost never reprint a document. I thought this was application specific, not a thing in the OS. I know, for example, that Word does it's own thing.
3. Print errors, like running out of paper, or in the case of two sided prints,
not getting the page back in the printer fast enough, were non-recoverable. In
9 you just hit continue. In Jaguar, you start again. Awful.
That's a driver-specific thing.
4. At work, (a middle school) there have been major font compatibility
problems. Not smooth. I solved some of the problems here by showing folks how
they could print in Classic by opening those apps that could in Classic.
This is a font management issue: you've got multiple, incompatible copies of fonts, I'll bet.
These apply to an Epson printer, so some of the problems may be due to a poorly
written driver. But I'm guessing many are os probs.
I suspect much of this is the Epson drivers; I don't have an Epson printer. However, none of my users with Epson's have been complaining (at least once the Jag-compatible Epson drivers were released). I've had no such issues with the printers I use (mostly HP laserjets, and the [EMAIL PROTECTED] lexmark I have at home that I want to check out the window.)
However, since I've not noticed a lot of difference in printing from 10.2 to 10.3 I suspect your problems may still show up
You know, though, it almost sounds like you're describing printing in 10.1 not 10.2...
