OK, for some reason the mail portal at my wif'e univ. doesn't know what to do with "apple-double" mime encodings. I think.
AppleDouble *is* MIME - the standard for multipart email messages (attachments, inline images, etc).
What specifically is the difficulty? "doesn't know what to do" could mean anything.
