I'm sorry to hear that. I work with a guy who also has daily headaches. His is pretty much same story except for the vertebrae issue, afaik.
There has been an update on this topic in the German Mac Life forum where a poster claims to have successfully swapped chips and only had to use flashrom to get it Mac ready (i.e. ready to be flashed in a Mac).
