I have come to the point where I need to either bump up the speed and storage on my stock G3/233/4gig beige desktop or get something newer and faster. The only thing I have changed is the memory which is now at 416mb.
I have read with interest the discussions about ZIF processor upgrades and larger hard drives with controllers which fit in PCI slots, but I have never quite figured out just what I need to upgrade and what I might have to spend.
I see the OWC ads promoting the G4/450-533mhz upgrade for $150.00, but never have figured out what besides the G4 processor I would have to buy.
I guessing that I would need a larger hard drive and wonder if I can just replace the hard drive with a larger one of the same type and not have to buy a controller.
I would like to end up being able to use Jaguar after the upgrades and have a faster machine which would remain trouble free.
Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.
