One of the things that keeps me in Beige is all the scsi peripherals I have that
would be expensive to retire. Also the option to use the serial port for a
couple of printers I still use occasionally.

Yes, you could add scsi to a newer computer of course. But all those things
that are advanced funtions...video editing, DVD playback (why, when DVD players
are so cheap now? )DVD burning etc work perfectly fine on my Beige. Including
Panther.

I'm considering a faster zif than my current 466 G4 but I'm not sure I'd see
much benefit to it considering how well everything works now, including 10.3.2.
A few things would take less time to cook, like compression in iDVD and some
functions of Final Cut become active, but is it worth the bucks to me right now?

I will say that the main thing that intrests me in a newer box is AGP graphics,
but not enought to make a jump yet.

If you haven't started ugrading a Beige, it is certainly worth considering a
newer machine, but if you have a bunch of stuff in it already or have a lot of
peripherals that would be difficult to use on a newer box, Beige is still a
very viable option.

2 cents more.
