I have the grey G4 with a 9.55 Gig HD with 3.5 gigs free.
Is this enough to install & run Panther.
If not what would be a minimum zize? Should just get an internal and trash the existing internal?
That's too tight.
Get an internal and *keep* the existing one, your G4 has two bays for internal HDD's. use the existing drive as a backup OS 9 boot drive, install a new larger drive in the other bay.
Minimum size for a *usable* OSX install would be around 10 gig imo. It will install in a smaller size drive (minimum requirement is something like 4 gig free) but a minimal install of any os is a exercise in frustration.
40-80 gig drives are cheap nowadays. Heck I saw a brand new 120 gb drive going for $109 on the LEM swap list, and they're routinely quite a bit less after rebate from the big electronics places.
