Here are the symptoms:
No start up sounds
Both fans run
HD clicks but does not continue to spin
CPU gets warm
All lights on logic board are on
Digital readout on video card alternates between F and C
CD drawer won't open by pressing button
No video to monitor
Battery tests good
Tried three known good hard drives, no boot up.
Tried G4 HD in a firewire case on my G5. HD reads and writes.
I reseated everything that I could - cpu, ram, cards, all connectors and plugs - no change.
