It all depends, of course, on what you want/need the machine to do.
First step is  maxing out the RAM, as you've planned.

Depending on the type of work you do you might consider replacing that
20GB drive with another 130GB. Music and pics start to consume space
rapidly.

Are you a gamer? Perhaps update the video card (stick with the AGP ones).

What optical drive do you have? Consider CD-R/RW, or even a DVD-R. Prices
have really been coming down.

Other ideas include a processor, or even a mother board, swap. Not sure if
it's either doable or worth the money, but you might be able to put a
dual-processor board in there (!) - great stuff, especially if you're
looking at Photoshop, etc.
