One good reason to partition a hard drive is if you share your computer with someone else. You have your stuff on your partition , they have theirs. It makes somewhat happier bedfellows. Another reason is if perhaps, as is my case, I have my academic musings on one partition, and regular everyday resources on the other. I believe my hard drive was partitioned right after I swapped out my OEM 4GB for an 80 GB. I used the drive set-up utility that was part of my OS 9.2. If you can start fresh with a new hard drive, or don't mind doing away with the info on your "old" hard drive, I encourage you to experiment, be sure of course to have your OS disk available for installation.
