Hi Bruce I brought an Epson back to life by cleaning the heads that had gotten clogged with dried ink. BTW, you should be prepared to replace the ink cartridges afterwards. I used qtips, a medicine dropper, paper towels, and rubbing alcohol. I managed to get the cartridges with heads out of the way and used qtips dipped in the alcohol to try to dissolve the dried ink in the heads. I also found the dropper to be better at applying the alcohol. The paper towels are good for absorbing the alcohol/ink that drips around. I found I need to add rubbing alcohol to the sponge rests then let the heads go back and soak a little to really solve the problem. I used the paper towels to soak up the alcohol afterwards. The alcohol will eventually loosen the clogged ink but also makes the ink flow so I ended up replacing the ink after clearing the head. My printer was less than a year old but had sat several months, with the ink installed, in a box during a move. Also good to make sure the heads are returning to the sponge rests when not in use to help them get clogged with the ink. Tracy Bunting
