The MDD's are very nice machines. I love my ex-wind tunnel DP unit. Rock solid performer, other than software update required restarts, it hasn't been down in ages. I guess since August 22, 2003 when we had the lightning strike. I would love to have a G5, but there's no way I can justify it when this one does everything I need and has plenty of expansion possibilities left.
If you can find an MDD at a nice price, it's a worthwhile Mac.
