Anthony; Follow the instructions exactly, and it works like a charm on X.2.8.
You need to link the print spooler to the CUPS backend, install the GIMP Print driver and then add the SMB Printer. Be sure the printer is shared from the windows machine. I print to an HP Photosmart printer hanging off my XP machine, and it works well. Just read the web page and do it exactly as is says.
