sounds like they had some with power supply problems, which isn't unusual, designers often have problems with power supplies and providing large enough heat sinks and the right capacitors etc. (for some reason, many EE's don't know the details for designing a power supply, particularly people who mostly do digital work). glad they are replacing it, likely they've found the design problem(s) and the repaired/replacement unit should hopefully be trouble free.
