The LIDE 30 scanner complies with USB 1.1 specifications. It works fine on the original Mac USB ports. There have been three USB specifications USB 1.0, USB 1.1 and USB 2.0. For a Mac users this has been represented as a USB 1 covering the USB 1 and 1.1 specification, while USB 2 has represented the USB 2 specification. Marketing especially for X86 based hardware has caused and does cause confusion. It is common to see devices markets as "USB 2 Full Speed" and "USB 2 High Speed". USB 2 Full Speed refers to the USB 1.1 specification and USB 2 High Speed refers to the USB 2.0 specification. Canon has marketed the LiDE 30 Scanner as a "USB 2 Full Speed" device which makes it in Mac terms a very straight forward USB 1 device. bill -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
