I paid GBP 10.00 at a car boot sale. No drivers so I used VueScan

I looked for drivers on the Canon site and almost gave up then found some
that only work in OS 9

As I mentioned in another post I'm now using ReadIris Pro that was free with
a UK edition of MacWorld

I haven't used it a lot  yet so can't really comment, although I do use it
from within PhotoShop and (I think) have also used it from within Word and
Graphic Converter

As for 3D objects, the lid comes right off so you can lay things (carefully
though!) straight onto the plate. I usually cover the whole thing with a
towel. However now that I have a pretty good digital camera (Minolta Z1) I
find that I only use the scanner for documents
