Tony:
Thanks, I think you make a great point, but do you mean the LaserWriter's IP address?
I'm not sure how to get it; all I can learn from LaserWriter Utility is the Ethernet
address.

However, when I input the router's IP address for the printer just now, in trying to
get the iMac to acknowledge it, it finally accepted the printer, and let the print
dialogue box open, and started "printing" but it Stops before it can finish spooling.
So, I need to figure out the printer's IP address. Suggestions, anyone?

James S Jones:
Thanks for the response. No, I have not connected the LW from the iMac, but the iMac
uses the wireless router/hub to access the Internet (cable modem via Ethernet to the
router/hub) and my B&W G3 goes through the router/hub to the LW. The printer's
protocol is Ethernet, pretty sure they didn't coonosider TCP/IP back in 1993! The
Asante is a very Apple-friendly brand and routes AppleTalk as well as TCP/IP.
