do you guys/gals do with your mac aside from the usual?>

Well, I only do "the usual" with my Macs -- perhaps even less of "the
usual" than a lot of people since I don't do the video and audio stuff
and I don't play games either -- but the reason I originally fell in love
with Mac computers was because unlike PCs (especially at first but even
now) they were seriously user friendly and didn't present me with
technical problems and issues which were over my head (until recently,
anyway!). However, another use for Macs which was once quite popular, and
maybe still is, was graphics and layout design (i.e., desktop publishing,
which was actually my introduction to the Mac back in 1986 where I did
this for a corporate travel agency). Now that I have PageMaker, I plan to
import my own writing into it so I can make it "look professional," even
though this is just for me, not something I'm doing for a living.

Probably by now people are doing this on PCs with other applications now,
so it's no longer anything necessary or even special to do desktop
publishing or other graphics design with Macs, but there was a time when,
while the PC was still the majority computer everyplace else, anyone and
everyone who did publishing and graphics were using Macs. But you did ask
what Macs were good for, right? ;-)
