<I wouldn't let Norton Utilities near my hard drive even if it was still
shrink-wrapped.>

How come? Up until the time it stopped working for me 6-7 months ago or
so -- and I suspect it's because my version of it, 3.5.1, is "too old" --
I thought Norton was wonderful. Actually, since it still works on my
(really out of date!) Powerbook 190, I still use it there. I just can't
use it on my G3, that's all. It's been suggested to me that my version is
too old to deal with HFS+ formatted HDs, and that's why it won't Disk
Doctor or Speed Disk on my G3....

<TechTool Pro is very good for other uses.>

Such as?

<But Disk Warrior is _the_ tool to use when volumes won't mount. That's
the
problem Disk Warrior is specifically designed to fix. It is a must-have
utility for later versions of the classic Mac OS.>

Well, perhaps Norton can't do everything, even if I did have the most
up-to-date version of it...?

<And no, I don't work for Alsoft ;)>

I didn't suspect you did. I'm just as enthusiastic about the software I
love, such as my email client which I can thankfully still use, and I was
also hanging on to my word processing app for months after OS 9 messed it
up, to the point where I was starting up from a HD with OS 8 so I could
use it. I finally gave in on that point, but....it's taking me some time
to get used to it.

OK, so Alsoft makes DiskWarrior huh? Guess I'll have to cruise on over to
their site and check it out....

Thanks,

~Yersinia.
