Thank you for the warning. Now I know NOT to buy another HD. Not that I 
was going to on my limited budget anyway, but your experience is telling 
me not to be TEMPTED to do it.  :-)

The "good news" in my case is that I have two other HDs in my G3 so I can 
still at least use the thing. It's just that I have "stuff" on the HD 
that went missing and that was the 4-gig drive besides, so I want it back.
