OK I have a beige G3 266 410meg ram with a 100 gig HD. I am running Panther 3.5 and all is well. I installed an Orange PCI USB/Firewire card and a SIIG ATA card. I thus elminated the 8 gig limit and can now use USB and all of my HD for Panther. I did the pram reset and reset the firmware. To reset, restart and hold down the Option-Apple-f-o key combination.aAt the prompt, type "set-defaults" press return. Then type "reset-all" return. Then type "exit" to restart. After booting into OS 9, download and install XPostFacto3.0b8 from Other world computing.com. Place the Panther disk one in the drive and launch XPostFacto3.0b8 and tell it to install from the CD.
It's been over 2 weeks ans it is working great. I do have OS 9 on small partition just in case.
Good luck
