If only Apple would get off its high horse and fix the bookmark import gizmo.
Yeah, that is cumbersome. Also, can anyone tell me what needs to be changed in order to stop getting broken Quicktime icons on lot's of sites in Safari 1.0.3?
Dan:
Broken icons usually mean that the web site failed to send the image or that the file received was corrupted (cannot be decoded).
Every time I get a broken QT icon in Safari and reloaded the page in IE it is fine. An image or graphic appears where the broken icon appeared in Safari.
Try running a traceroute to the site. Make sure you're not having packet loss or time-out issues etc.
I have no idea what a traceroute is but why would a packet loss or time out issue (not the case here since it is immediate upon page load) only occur in Safari and not IE.
I have copied the URL and checked in IE to see what is supposed to be there on the page a few times. Usually it is just a stupid ad or something else, often with motion.
hum. IE and IIS (MS' web server software) use a non-standard method to communicate. If the IIS server is badly configured, it can sometimes have problems talking to non-IE browsers. That would manifest itself as the broken icons...

Loads fine for me on Panther.
As I said, loads fine for me too in IE but not in Safari in 10.2.8., that's why I think it's a settings issue with either Quicktime or Safari. Problem is, Safari seems to offer very little in the way of user settings. The preferences choices are minimalistic and the installed plug-ins window isn't a whole lot of help either.
A setting to allow pages to be refreshed each time you visit would be a nice option instead of having to manually refresh or clear the cache each time. This is really annoying on eBay.
