The 8GB issue is TECHNICALLY not an issue when you use ANY controller 
card, it's a limitation with the onboard drive controller.  However, 
the OS X installer has no way of detecting whether or not the card is 
attached to a controller card or the internal bus, so even if you are 
running from a controller card, it will make you install in the first 
8GB, even though technically it would work.

On a Beige G3 you probably will see little difference between SATA/150 
and ATA/133.  ATA/100 you might see somewhat of a difference though.
