Just a word of caution here....files that are owned by root can be very important to running the operating system and you should be VERY CAREFUL before deleting any of them without knowing what you are doing.
No in Applications, which the poster stated originally. "I added some items in my Applications..." anything in Applications can be tossed without disrupting the system. You may lose significant functionality if, say, you trashed System Preferences, but the System will run just fine.
If the Poster had said 'System' or 'Library' folders, thats another thing entirely.
There is a reason why you don't have the ability to delete those files. It's REALLY bad advice to tell somebody to go into the terminal and use 'sudo' to remove files without that bit of advice.
Many things in /Applications are owned by root because they're installed by the system installer, things like iTunes, iPhoto, Safari are all owned by root:

Note the items in here owned by root, rather than me: Applescript, Calculator, Chess...all installed during the OS install.
Now if you delete the Applescript folder, all you're deleting are some scripts and the script editor, your're NOT deleting the AppleScript functionality.
ANYTHING in the Applications folder is fungible. The System, Library, and stuff hidden off in /private are all the crucial system files that you don't want to mess with.
