Hi. I just signed on here and have seen no messages yet, so here goes... I was given a G3 266 desktop model by a friend who changed jobs and didn't need it any more. My partner is using it for typing transcripts from CDs and DVDs using my old G3 iBook as playback device. It is working quite well, though she really is using it as a glorified typewriter and internet machine.
I bought a zip 100 drive from a friend, so she can make document backups as she was used to, and added an PCI USB/FW card so I can do maintenance and transfers to and from the G3, but the card does not show up! Could it be because the G3 is running on OS 8.6, and would I have to update it to 9.1 to make the card work? Or could there be something else wrong that makes it not work? I look forward to tapping the wisdom of the group, if this is the appropriate forum for this kind of question.
