Actually no it isn't. Some are, some aren't. It depends on whether or not the show is popular enough to be charging for placement. "Friends", yes. Something on UPN that lasts 4 episodes, no.
I checked with a friend that works for CBS. He says that if a trademark is seen in a non-News show, it's paid, period. Fees range from $10 to thousands per show.
