My blue & white G3 can't boot from firewire, so I doubt the beige's can. The only path to firewire booting is a newer machine, but I don't know what the first generation that supported it was. I thought it was the first G4s, but I'm not sure and Mactracker is no help in this area, at least not that I can find. I believe my Digital Audio Dual-533 G4 boots from firewire, but now that I think about it, I don't think I've actually tried it. I'll have to give it a whirl....

My iMac G3 DV+ slot loader can boot from firewire and G3 700 iBook boots from my firewire drive. I don't know which big box Mac was first able to do so. I thought native firewire was the only requirement.
