There is a game we used to play. One person in front of a group of people draws a picture of a moon in the air, and while describing what he is doing, he draws two eyes, a nose and a mouth and asks if it is a good moon or a bad moon. Eventually, everyone except one poor soul finally figures out what makes the air drawing and accompanying description good or bad. What makes a good moon or a bad moon is whether or not you clear your throat before starting. Well, I feel like that poor soul that never gets it. I am not able to figure out how to make the connection with my CAT5 cables and hub using ethernet. Here is the set up: Two G3's, a 233 and a 266. Clean machines, no upgrades except for a 40 gig HD in one. Both running OS9, one 9.1, the other 9.2. I am trying to connect them all together with two printers, an Apple 16/600 and a recently acquired Phaser 860. I am using a Linksys 5-port hub. I had been successfully using the Apple printer with Phone Net hooked up to the serial printer port. The Phaser has Ethernet. I have used the furnished CD that came with the Phaser to install the driver. My problem so far is that when I go to the Apple Talk setup I cannot get it to select Ethernet on either of the G3's. It says that I should check my connections. I have tried the simplest connection of all by using an Ethernet cable directly from the G3 to the Apple printer. Restarted a couple of times and I could not get a connection. What am I doing wrong? I figure it has to be something really basic and simple, but like the good or bad moon, I am not getting it. Can someone help me?
