My problem so far is that when I go to the Apple Talk setup I cannot get it
to select Ethernet on either of the G3's. It says that I should check my
connections. I have tried the simplest connection of all by using an
Ethernet cable directly from the G3 to the Apple printer. Restarted a couple
of times and I could not get a connection. What am I doing wrong? I figure
it has to be something really basic and simple, but like the good or bad
moon, I am not getting it. Can someone help me?

Do you have the Ethernet extensions installed? loaded?

What does System Profiler say about the ethernet on each of them?

What exact model is the hub? I spent an hour trying to get two macs and a printer talking via a nice 8-port netgear hub I was given, until I looked carefully at the hub and discovered it was a 100 base-T (not 10/100 Base-t), and nothing I had had a 100 base-t connection.

Really silly question (though I've seen it before, so forgive me...) you are using ethernet cables, not phone cables?

Are you sure the hub is working?

Do any lights show on it when you have everything plugged in and turned on?

For the 'just a computer and a printer' to work, you need crossover cables, but if you are using a hub you need regular cables.
