I don�t think you need to reinstall the entire OS. If you look on your OS9 install CD, there is an extensions folder, inside of the System Folder, with 40 or more extensions in it. Just drag the �apple built-in ethernet� icon to your Extension Folder in the System Folder on your HD.
There are a few other extensions related to ethernet there too, Apple Enet is also installed on my OS 8.6 system. Sorry, I don�t have 9.2 running here at work to see what�s installed. But I�m sure I�ve had all of the extensions installed simultaneously in my Extensions Folder before without any problems. I�d try this first before doing a complete install. Good Luck.
