R.A.,
I don't think you have anything to worry about R.A.. There are several
apps on your system that normally check subscriptions to sites,
assuming that's what it is.
If you open your IE prefs, scroll down to Subscriptions, you will see
some options there. You can set this to check "Manually", "Each time
Explorer is launched", or at timed intervals. I keep mine set to
"Manual".
There might be some site 'Certificate' checking going on as well, which
is something you want because that allows you to access various
features of sites and offers you security when doing so.
In all likelihood, Safari checks Subscriptions too, but looking at my
OS 10.3.9 version, there is no way to turn it off. Other browsers
will likely be performing the same check as well. Hope this solves
your issue.
Dave
I have of late noticed a various times a "Subscription
Update" or something to that effect running behind the active window.
I have
tried to root around and find this guy and eliminate him, but so far no
luck. I am guessing that it is supposed to be a part of IE, but I
don't have
any subscribed sites that I can tell by opening the Favorites Window. I
would gladly lock this little guy up, or, if he's malware, fry him.
This
thing runs frequently and I can't get to it in any way that I can
control
it. Any help?
All the Best,
R.A. Cantrell
