Actually Cable is usually easier as a user name and password are not
required. so unless you have a static IP the default dhcp will connect
you right up just plug everything in and go
and even if you do have a a static IP you'll still get that IP even
with the modem set to dhcp.

Should be able to plug everything in and go. 
You can get cable modems with routers but a standard modem isnt going
to have it I prefer my modem and router to be separate anyway.
And I'm sure that she will not be doing anything that will use much
bandwidth. And if they have that much there's plenty.
