Speaking of which: what is the release date for the Intel Macs? If memory
serves, (and, no, it usually doesn't) the summer of '06 was given as the
release date for the last of the PPC G5s.

The reason I ask is because I've put some money in my G3 and plan to use it
(okay, eke it out) until '07. I'm hoping that the last of the G5s will come
out in '06, and that by the time I start looking for one a year later, I can
pick it up on the cheap.

Also, I assume that Apple has committed to having the "usual" number of G5s
made. In other words: are they planning on ratcheting down the production
numbers as the end draws nigh, or do they plan to carry on as usual until
the transition? I'm wondering what the demand will be like for the last of
the G5s when the world knows that the Intel Macs will not be backwards
compatible. @_@

plans to pick up the last of the PPC machines before Apple goes over to
Intel.
