Recently I cloned the hard drive in my B & W to a larger one. Now when I try to print from OS 10.3.9 and the new drive the printing dialogue box says "no printer selected."
So I open Printer Setup Utility go to "add printer" and it lists all the connected printers. Then I select the printer I want and hit the "Add" button; a subwindow displays the needed driver. I hit "Add" once more for the driver and get the error message: >Printer Name: (the printer I selected) >Unable to communicate with the printer to set the printer's installable options. If I try to reinstall the printer driver, I get a message saying driver already installed. And yes the printers are turned on and are printing from other Mac's on the same network. Either the something went wrong with the drive cloning or I accidentally changed a setting somewhere. I suppose I could do an archive and install; is there a less drastic solution? Maybe there is there a .plist file somewhere I should delete? David Pogue's Mac OS X: The Missing Manual, Panther Edition is on order but won't arrive for a few days.
