Sounds reasonable to me. You know, at one time, Yersinia, I couldn't
understand you at all. Now, the more I've belonged to this list and
read more of your questions and answers, I totally understand why you
continue to use OS 9 on your beige. The old adage "if it ain't
broke, why fix it" applies very appropriately to you and your situation.
Obviously, you have been a Mac user much longer than I have been.
You know what works for you and you're not going to let anybody or
any corporation push you around. Carry on!

Hahahahahahahaha! ;-) However, I can see why I've managed to give
people
this impression...so, to set the record straight...
No, I'm not "dead-set against" OS X on principle, I'm only against
putting it on my Beige, because:
Beiges and OS X are notorious for problems, especially Beige users who
use their floppy drives and refuse to get rid of their ancient
printers
(like my Apple Personal LaserWriter 300) or stop using their "old"
applications, and I'm scared to death of "ruining" a setup that's
working
great under 9.2.2 and is easily compatible with my Powerbook 5300c on
8.6, which I use in conjunction with the Beige.
As to Ubuntu, I plan on putting it on a separate hard drive and
keeping
my Linux activities totally separate from my Mac OS activities. The
stuff
I want to do on Linux is totally different than what I do normally
(for
which I don't need to make any changes at all).
