The grey CD's are a hit or miss thing if not installed on their
target machine. I've a grey 9.2.2 Power Mac G4 CD that will install
on a Wallstreet G3, iMac G3, iBook G3 and a B&W G3.
OTOH, my grey iBook G3 CD will work on nothing but my iBook.

Unfortunately, I've got a gray OS 9 CD that I'd ordered from Other
World Computing, back during the summer sometime, and now know that
it's useless for my beige G3. Just thought I'd bring this up, for
the folks that swear by Other World Computing for their Mac parts
source.
