Turns out, when I tried both the CD and HD, both were set to master. So, I set the CD to slave, booted off my Mac OS X install disk, and launched Disk Utility. When verifying the disk, it said keys out of order, repairing catalog file, the disk could not be verified, the underlying task has reported failure on exit. So, I try to erase the disk to reinstall the OS. Erasing fails because it says the disk can not be unmounted. So, I figure I will probably need 1 of 3 things; a new motherboard, a new harddrive, or an ATA controller. Any ideas which?
