Hello and season's greetings to all G-listers:
I am the proud owner of a very sharp looking G4 Gigabit Ethernet 400/512
Problems
(1) It does not hold date/time even with a new PRAM battery installed.
(2) It take about 10 minutes to boot into 9.2
It is slow responding to some control panels - for example
monitor & date/time.
Most of the time it acts normally once the machine starts
running.
(3) I could not upgrade to OS X. The system hangs with the Apple logo
showing on the screen.
(4) I could not shut it down from the 'Special Menu', even though the
attached
monitor goes blank.
To turn it off, I have to yank the power cord.
I did spend some time researching for a possible pre OS X firmware
upgrade needed
for this machine without success.
I also tried swapping RAM sticks from another working G4.
Any and all help will be appreciated.
