You only will need XPF on a Beige for Panther or Tiger.
If Jaguar is installed in the right way and on the 1st partition (<8 GB) of
the HD (speaking of a HD connected to the built-in ATA-bus) you cannot use
the controlpanel StartUp Disk. Instead you have to dl and install Apple's
System Disk 2.6.2. It's a < 300 K dl. from Apple's site.
