OSX performs certain UNIX maintenance tasks daily, weekly and
monthly, once your computer is left on overnight
These tasks are performed at times like 3AM etc
You can download a program called Mac Janitor http://
personalpages.tds.net/~brian_hill/downloads.html - which handles
these tasks manually
It is a doddle to use and keeps your Mac running like buttah
Whenever I remember, I start MacJanitor and run the monthly task
which takes care of everything
