Well, I'm stumped.
The local Historical Society has a B&W with an Apple OEM Matshita CD
drive
which System Profiler indicates "supports CD burning" or words to that
effect.
I could swear that I had tested the drive some time last year, but in
any
event, after a bad directory problem on the hard disk, I reinitialized
&
reinstalled 9.2.2
I saved all the newer prefs and goodies and put them back. To
appeearances,
the machine is behaving identically. But now Toast (5.0.2 or 5.2, both
an
older version and a newer are on the machine) refuse to find the CD
Writer.
Apple CD Burner does not work.
What gives here? I've found nothing online that indicates that the
CR-587
should not work.
It reads CDs, both commercial and homemade, just fine, and the OS 9.2
Install boot disk works in it.
Any suggestions?
IIRC, Toast scatters a variety of extensions and the like around the
system folder and I think that one or 2 may be invisible. Have you
tried reinstalling toast from the original disks?
