Hi, I'm Ginny from the heart of Silicon Valley.
I had a 6500 Mac for 7 or 8 years & it served me well. I keep foreign
students for the local colleges & one of them gave me her Bondi Blue G3
after she left as she only used her laptop.
I upgraded the CPU to a G-4 500, added memory & added another hard
drive. It has room for 3 hard drives & I now have two in it. It also
has a slot for an internal Zip Drive, BUT the ones available now (250s
& 750s) will not fit the zip drive slot (too large) My question is,
does anyone know where I can get an Omega Zip Internal 100 for it?
Someone suggested removing the 250 or 750 from its metal platform &
somehow installing it in the slot by soldering it or screwing it to the
the retractable platform. Is this possible? Doesn't sound likely to
me.
I have an external Zip 100 in perfect shape, but it was daisy chained
on my old Mac to a SCZI port & they told me at the electronic store
(Fry's) that there was no kind of connector that would allow you to
connect a SCZI device to a USB hub or port. Any help or suggestions
would be much appreciated. I have a lot of info & pictures on my Zip
100 discs & would love to be able to use them. I know that I can play
my 100s on the 250 or 750 IF I could install one. I suppose I could buy
another
larger capacity external one, but don't want to go that route.
