Sounds like me. I bought a "bare bones" B&W G3 last spring and
immediately got "hooked" on Macs. I've always been a die hard Windows
fan, but that's quickly changed. I now have two B&W G3's, an iBook
indigo clamshell, an iMac G3, and a beige G3 all-in-one. I don't have
more than $40 in any of them.

I'd suggest spending no more than $40 or $50 on upgrades to the B&W.
That should get you 512mb ram, 40 GB hard drive, and an ATI Radeon
7000 PCI card. Keep an eye out for super cheap deals on RAM and hard
drives at flea markets, used computer shops, and computer swaps. The
Radeon 7000 card you can get via Ebay for around $20 shipped. This
setup will run Tiger well and give you a good idea of what OS X can
do.

After you enjoy the B&W G3, put the rest of your planned upgrade money
into a G5 or Mac Mini. Like the above poster said, refurbed Mac Minis
are great buys for around $450.
