Yes, in my experience.

The ATA drives which are attached to the PCI card are emulated as  
SCSI drives, so the 'puter has to go through the entire mobo-based  
drives in a "roll-call", before finding none, and then doing a "roll- 
call" on all attached cards. It should be the same as for a SCSI  
drive connected to a PCI SCSI card, only a little bitt different.
