I meant to mention besides the obvious book keeping appeal it has for  
me, this scheme allows me to update / replace / re-install / nuke &  
pave (10.5.6 back to 10.5.4) / experiment with OS Xs without having  
to Migrate all the Applications and Documents.

Saves on Reads and Writes ...
