Two members of our user group have similar problems. One with a DP G5, the other with an iMac, both running Tiger 10.4.11. A finder window becomes the active window automatically. Both have tried deleting the Finder preferences and repairing permissions.
Please advise. The original poster has this statement: "My DP G5 (running Tiger 10.4.11) just started exhibiting a strange behavior—while I’m working an any application a finder window suddenly jumps to the front and becomes the active window. If I close the window, I must then click back on the application window I was working in to make it active again. A few minutes later, the same window (that I just closed) pops back to the front. Sometimes (not always) all my desktop icons disappear as well (I haven’t determined a pattern yet as to exactly when that happens). Initially that window was one from an external hard drive. When I unmounted that external drive, it kept happening and a different window started coming to the front. Restarts haven’t helped. I repaired permissions on the drive, and now I’ve had some open windows disappear..." Later, she sent this: "No success yet. I've tried deleting the finder preferences, repairing permissions, clearing additional space on the hard drive. The finder still keeps popping a single window to the front--and closing any other open finder windows when it happens."
