Before you go out and buy that G5, just out of curiosity, how much RAM
do you have installed? If you don't already have a lot of RAM (at
least 1GB), that could be the biggest part of your problem. OS X works
better with more RAM. My 733MHz DA works GREAT with 10.4.11. Doesn't
feel sluggish at all. In fact, I think my Pismo G3 and dual USB iBook
600 are both doing pretty admirably under 10.4 with their RAM maxed
out. All three of my machines were a big sluggish under 10.3.9, but
once I upgraded to 10.4 and maxed the RAM, I noticed a big
improvement.
Maxing out the RAM in your machine would probably be a lot less
expensive than the other options being floated around.
